Joanne is a nationally certified colon therapist with I-ACT at the advanced level. She was certified in colon therapy and earned her Florida license in 1981. She is the longest steadily practicing colon therapist in Brevard County.
Joanne’s interest in the colon began when she was living with a midwife, in New York City, who was teaching pregnant women at Mount Sinai Hospital how to give themselves enemas.
Interest sparked again when she saw a brochure for the Florida Institute of Natural Health, later named the Florida School of Massage in Gainesville, Florida. A colon therapy certification course was offered which she could take along with massage training. It was the beginning of over 30 years of public education and service to clients and their colons.
Joanne’s first job, in 1982, was in a colonic office that was affiliated with the Hippocrates Health Institute in Boston, MA. Many of the guests at Hippocrates, where she worked full time, were there for Dr. Ann Wigmore's live-food and detoxification program for myriad conditions. This consisted of a regimen of internal cleansing, wheat grass therapy, and raw green juices. The results were astounding and set the foundation for a lifelong conviction that "disease" conditions can be greatly alleviated by internal cleansing.
Joanne opened her first private practice in 1986 on Eau Gallie Blvd in Melbourne FL. The building that housed her business was destroyed in a fire in 2013 and Joanne moved to her current location. Joanne has worked in the health industry for over 30 years.
